The Veterinary Council of Ghana (VCG) is committed to the training, education, and continuous professional development of veterinary professionals in Ghana.

To maintain professional competence and remain in good standing, all veterinary professionals are required to participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The CPD programme provides a structured system for tracking learning activities and ensuring veterinary practice in Ghana meets acceptable professional standards.

Your CPD Requirements at a Glance

  • Minimum Annual Requirement: 20 Credit Points (CP) per CPD year (January 1 – December 31)
  • Veterinary-Focused Activities: At least 70% (14 CP) must be from core veterinary-related activities
  • Non-Veterinary Activities: Maximum 30% (6 CP) from approved non-veterinary courses

Modes of Earning CPD Credit Points

  • Formal academic study
  • Conferences, workshops, seminars, and short courses
  • Authorship of books, book chapters, and peer-reviewed publications
  • Mentoring and supervision of students or interns
  • Professional, community, and extension service activities

Compliance and Record Keeping

  • Evidence Required: Proof of participation must be submitted by 31st December each year
  • CPD Recording: All activities must be recorded using Form 4 (CPD Credit Points Form)
  • Reflective Records: Required where no certificate is issued
  • Non-Compliance: Failure to meet requirements for two consecutive years may attract sanctions

Instructions for Filling CPD Forms Digitally

  • Use the latest version downloaded from the VCG website.
  • Complete all required fields accurately.
  • Save using your first name and VCG registration number (e.g. VCG CPD Form 2.1 - Kofi VCG1234).
  • For digital submission (if permitted), complete signature section with initials.
  • Do not alter structure or formatting of the form.
  • Attach supporting documents before submission.
  • Review carefully before submitting.
